Portmarnock 5 Castleknock 3
A super win over Castleknock on Saturday morning saw Portmarnock U14 B1 side consolidate 2nd position in the league. Portmarnock started very slowly and conceded 2 goals in the first 5 minutes. The shock of conceding two early goals spurred the team into life and they dominated the next 30 mins without registering any goals. Although Portmarnock trailed by two goals at half time there was no sense of panic in the team.
The second half started with Portmarnock increasing the tempo. Two quick goals from Adam restored parity. Portmarnock then took the lead with Adam getting a super goal to complete his hat trick. Castleknock got a equaliser but Ross put Portmarnock ahead again. The visitors then got a man sent off which looked to have finished their chances of getting anything out of the game. However they were awarded a peno after a long ball caught out the Portmarnock defense. The peno rebounded off the post and was cleared to safety. Harry the sealed the game for Portmarnock with a well taken headed goal from a freekick. The lads showed real character to come back from a two goal deficit to win comfortably in the end.
Well done to all involved.
