Under 9's Sunday Red kick off their season
Portmarnock AFC U9 Sunday red kicked off their season renewing their rivalary with St Kevin's boys. Both teams were thankful for our club Astro, as the grass pitch in Paddyshill was struggling to be playable.
The games started at a frantic pace with two early goals from SKB on one pitch, however the home team settled and pulled a goal back through Jack O'Conner. The game turned into a goal fest with both sides scoring freely, Jack O'Connor registered two more to get a well deserved hat-trick.
The game on the other pitch was a total contrast, moving from end to end with both goalkeepers in fine form, SKB opened the scoring to go one up. Up stepped Danial O'Brien with the equaliser as Danial pealed away in celebration arms outstretched and delighted with himself.
The team's switched over for the second set of games, SKB showed many examples of inter passing, little triangles and strong finishing. Portmarnock AFC set about matching the visitors with stout defending from Niall Keating and Rian Rogan, an excellent goalkeeper display from Alfie Thompson, trickery from Cillian McCauley. An excellent finish from Leon Fitzgerald capped off a fine performance from the home side.
Back to the training ground this week for plenty of work on crisp passing and those little triangles.
The game finished off sportingly with both sides congratulating each other on a fine game.
