Busy week for the Portmarnock AFC Girls
17th May: U12s who played their last match of the 2017/18 season tonight up on Paddyshill. Win, lose or draw they play with huge heart and a never say die attitude. Week after week they make their parents, coaches and club proud.
20th May: Congratulations to Academy coach Emma Costello who is heading off to Canada on Thursday to take up a coaching position with the Vancouver White Caps for the summer.
Emma finished up tonight with a fun end of season session for her girls, including a penalty shoot out competition, a skills course and a football quiz. All the girls were fantastic, winning themselves trophies, medals & certificates for their efforts.
Well done to all of the girls and the club looks forward to having Emma back in September.
21st May:Match Report- U12s v The Parents
For their last training session of the year the girls challenged their parents to an end of year football match.
The girls won this fixture last year and from the off it was obvious the parents were out for revenge.
The parents started well, playing out from the back and passing nicely up the wing. Unfortunately this is as far as they got as the girls crowded them out in midfield not letting them near the goal.
The girls were fantastic in attack forcing the parents to park the bus to try and stop them from scoring.
With just 3 minutes left to play it was stalemate, suddenly with a screamer of a shot the girls broke the deadlock to make it 1-0!!!
Desperation set in for the parents, they forgot about playing and for the final 2 minutes just sent in long balls over the top in the hope of getting an equaliser.
Despite their best efforts they couldn’t find a way past the girls amazing defence and the final score was 1-0 to the girls 🎉🎉
