DDSL U12A1 Saturday CHAMPIONS!
Going into their final game of the seson last Saturday morning, our U12s sat on top of the Saturday A1 league title but were tied on 50 points with Glebe North and Corduff. However, with both these sides having already played all their 22 games, it was in Portmarnock's hands to win the league outright with either a draw or a win. The boys finished in fine style, defeating St. Teresa's by six goals to nil to capture the title.
It has been a fantastic season for this team, managed by Dan Davis and assisted by Craig Bolton and Brendan Ryan. They finished the season with the longest unbeaten streak in the division (14), the longest winning streak (10) and the longest home winning streak (9).Capturing the title was just reward for a year of dedicated work. The team are a super bunch of kids with a great appetite for training and wanting to improve.
A massive thank you to the players, to Darren Costello for his input and advice on the coaching side and to the super supportive parents - and grandparents and dogs! - that come out to every game, home or away.
The squad for the season was Aaron Fahy, Aaron Doyle, Daniel Copeland, Dylan Colmer, Fintan Ryan, Jake Foran, Karl Russell, Luke Bolton, Lukas Keeley, Noah Davis, Noah Reid, Rob Garry, Samuel Garofalo, Vincent Johnson.
We all look forward now to progressing onto U13 level and 11-a-side football and playing our games on the super surface of Paddy's Hill.
