NDSL 17B - Portmarnock AFC 4 - 1 Malahide Utd
A wet Carrickhill awaited Sunday’s visitors- local rivals Malahide United - for the first League game of the season.
Portmarnock started well overcoming the conditions to take a deserved lead mid way through the first half when Jamie O’Hanlon chipped the goalkeeper following some good build up play.
Malahide rallied to get back in the game and a well worked move involving some good interpassing led to the equaliser ten minutes later.
A smart finish from Arion Aliu then gave the home side a half time lead which they never looked like surrendering as the second half ensued.
Sean Lambert beat the visiting goalkeeper with a great strike from outside the box to make it 3-1 and when the same player closed down the goalkeeper forcing an error which left him with a simple tap in, the game was over as a contest.
A well earned 4-1 home win to start the season in style sets the tone for a visit to Sword Celtic next Sunday.
