Porto march into the Quarters
Porto march into the Quarters
Portmarnock over 35’s marched into the quarter finals of the Leinster FA Cup on Saturday with a 2:0 win over Newlands/Castlepark FC. Portmarnock were comfortable throughout with Newlands never really threatening Ivan Sherlock in the Portmarnock goal.
On the day it was it was Cian Henshaw and Alan Cullen with the all important goad either side of half time. For the first John Gibbons done well down the left side to cut the ball back to Cian Henshaw who found the top corner from just inside the box. For the second goal the pace of Alan Cullen saw him put clean through on goal from just inside the oppositions half. He raced through to finish with aplomb.
On the day there were many stand out performances with Ciaran Branagan and Barry Fitzpatrick ensuring Porto kept another clean sheet with some outstanding tackles in defense. Man of the match though was Barry Flynn who covered every inch of grass on the pitch, made interception after interception and just making Porto tick.
Well done to all involved. The reward is a home quarter final tie to the winners of Killester/Donnycarney v Markievicz Celtic. Game will take place at 2pm on Saturday 21st September. Your support on the day would be greatly appreciated so try get up to support the lads. Hon the parish!!!
