Senior Saturday beat St Columbus 4-2
Match Report vs St Columbas
The Saturday side took another step towards promotion today with a 4 - 2 win vs St Columbas in Alsaa.
The game started with Portmanock on top moving the ball well and getting alot of joy down the right hand side with Tom Sullivan and Ian Bailey linking up well. Bailey gave the Ports the lead on the half hour mark with a fantasic curled finish from the right hand side of the box. The home side began to apply the pressure towards the end of the half but never really looked like threatening our goal.
The second half started well again for the black and amber and 10 mins in Darren Daly managed to pinch the ball in the oppositions half and expertly slotted away to make it 2 nil.
Portmanock then took their foot of the pedal and conceded from a cross from the oppositions right hand side to make it 2-1.
10 mins later after some good work from Bailey and Cian McGregor to keep the ball moving towards the oppositions goal the ball was worked out to the left hand side where Ciaran Lyons cut in to curl one home - another clinical finish.
10 mins on and Porto where in a game again when a long ball bet the 2 centre halves to be slotted home by the Columbas forward.
A nervy last 15 mins was ended when Danny Byrne latched onto a Lyons through ball to end the game 4-2 to Porto.
Porto now go into the last 2 games where 6 points should all be ensure promotion. The management reflected on the game that the quality in our finishing on the day was the difference.
