Portmarnock started very brightly from the first whistle knocking the ball around very well on a bumpy pitch a nd definetly had the better of the early exchanges . They went close through Sennan mc Keown and Ross Byrne and were getting lots of joy down the right hand side before Sennan mc Keown put the away side ahead with a lovely strike from outside the area . It didn't take long for Portmanock to double their lead after a lovely move involving Karl Redmond and Sennan mc Keown ended with a corner and from the resulting corner Ross Byrne turned the ball in on the volley . With Portmarnock limiting Palmerstown to long balls and David Hughes and Kyle Murphy cutting out practically everything , Alex Dunne in goal was having a quiet morning only really been called into action to collect the odd long ball over the top and you felt it wouldn't be long before Portmarnock added to their tally , with the ever impressive Redmond pulling the strings in the middle of the park and constantly probing and linking the play it was no surprise when he picked the ball up and advancing forward let fly with a strike that took a deflection and went straight over the keeper to make it 3-0 . With Portmarnock dominating and having chance after chance it was no surprise when Kieron Broderick popped up on the back post and after lovely control smashed the ball into the back of the net sending Portmarnock in 4 up at the break . The second half was much the same with the away side again dominating the ball and having practically all the possession again creating chance after chance and if they had been more ruthless you probably would have been looking at double figures but the fifth did eventually come after again some great interchanges the ball ended up at the feet of Fionn Coates who smashed the ball in from the edge of the box . With some changes made Portmarnock kept going forward relentlessly right to the final whistle looking for more goals but it never materialised and they had to settle for a very impressive five nil win .
