Club performance of the week must go to the u11f team who beat high flying table toppers wayside Celtic 3-2 up in paddyshill Sunday morning. In the corresponding fixture back in September wayside won 11-0 (yes you read that right 11-0) so huge credit must go to the boys for the win
Portmarnock took the lead after a clever through ball from Ollie Jeffers gave man of the match Sam Davidson a chance to round the keeper and cooly slot home
Wayside responded and a great Strike from outside the box gave joe Forrestal no chance in the Portmarnock goal. Wayside kept up the pressure for the rest of the half and only great defending from Billy Healy and the impressive Chris Beglin and tough tackling and skill from midfielders Tom McCann and Jason Oyenuga kept the scoreline even at half time.
Portmarnock were unlucky to fall behind early in the second half when a long range shot evaded everyone and found its way into the bottom corner of the net .Portmarnock's Cian Hogan then had a good effort on goal but it went narrowly wide.Wayside were well on top now but the game turned when Sam Davidson robbed the wayside defender and unleashed an unstoppable shot from 20 yards into the roof of the net. The game looked to be ending in a draw until that man Sam stepped up again and repeated the strike from 20 yards for a wonderful goal his hat trick and the Portmarnock win
The wayside line were furious feeling a bit of foul play afoot after such a dramatic turnaround in the Portmarnock teams abilities in a few short months but man for man this was practically the same team that lost 11-0 in wayside and huge credit must go to the managers of Dave Hamilton and Dermot Forrestal and of course the players for all their hard work
Well done boys you did the club proud and proved the old adage of football its a " funny old game"
