Portmarnock Plough Farm in Thriller
Portmarnock Senior Sunday side are making serious waves in their bid to reach the top flight of the LSL as they moved within a point of top spot thanks to an impressive four wins in twelve days.
Their most notible win came as Portmarnock welcomed Home Farm to Paddy's Hill, in a top of the table clash, with the home side putting an end to Home Farm's unbeaten start to the season.
In a humdinger of a game, Portmarnock came out on top by the odd goal in seven to close on their rivals.
Ross Moran cracked home the winning goal, following up his own penalty that was initially saved by Farm keeper Peter Halpin.
Moran's winner came at the back end of a tie that was nip and tuck all the way through from the first goal inside the opening ten minutes.
The opening goal came from Eoin Murray, who put the visitors in front, but a brace for Chris Burgess put Portmarnock in control of the game. 2:1 to Portmarnock at half time.
Home Farm came out fighting second half with Donal Coughlan equalising not long after the break and with twenty minutes left Brian Snow had put Home Farm back in front.
Portmarnock, though, never gave up and Graham Rusk scored the equaliser to level the tie for a second time.
The game looked to be heading for a share of the spoils until Home Farm conceded a penalty and the player red carded for his challenge. Moran stepped up to take the penalty but was brilliantly saved by the Home Farm keeper. However Moran reacted quickest and he made no mistake with the rebound as he thumped home the dramatic winner to see Portmarnock seal a deserved win.
